Penambahan Kapasitas BW Telkom-2011

Posted by Telkompedia team 0 comments

Cara Konversi Koordinat

Posted by Telkompedia team 0 comments

-Kunjungi website http://transition.fcc.gov/mb/audio/bickel/DDDMMSS-decimal.html
-masukan derajat, menit, detik pada kolom yg tetrsedia.
-bila pada kolom detik, terdapat satuan koma gunakan titik (.)
-klik "Convert to Decimal"
-akan muncul hasilnya di kolom terbawah.

Mobile PayBill

Posted by Telkompedia team 0 comments

Kali ini ceritanya rada inggris ya....
Biar penulisnya cepet bisa bhs bule...
Long gone are the days of shopping exclusively in stores and spending only money that's in your wallet. Sure, we've all got Pay Pal accounts these days, and purchasing goods and digital content from pretty much anywhere has never been easier. But the sheer number of mobile devices in consumers' hands magnifies the effect, and Juniper Research has recently released a report on just how big the Mobile Payments space has become.
Mobile Money Goes Mainstream is a whitepaper extract from Mobile Payment Strategies- Opportunities & Markets 2011 – 2015, from Juniper Research. When I was first approached about taking a look at the report, I was a bit underwhelmed in that I thought I was in tune with all things mobile, and that people shopping through their iPhones hardly rises to the level of news. As I dug in on the piece, I realized that I am pretty much a bumpkin on the topic.
Big numbers are meant to impress, so let's get right to the one that matters. Juniper estimates that by 2015, the global mobile payments market will be worth almost $700 million dollars. Given that much of that occurs in increments of somewhere under a dollar to around twenty dollars, it is pretty thought provoking from the perspective of volume of transactions. But what is really fascinating to the uninitiated is the clinical breakdown of payment schemes, and exactly what methods are being used to spend these dollars from mobile devices in various parts of the world, and how money spent is spread across both digital and physical goods and funds transfers. This is where the report packs its punch.
It's not oversimplifying the point to say that phones are supplanting cash in some countries, where "Near Field Communications" amount to the wave of a device that makes money change accounts. Then there are in-app billing mechanisms, my phone talking to yours directly for Person2Person payments, and a handful of other classifications of mobile payment schemes. There are definitely preferred ways of mobile shopping as you travel the world, implications for lower-tech countries, and a lot of food for thought for those looking to make revenue off of the opportunities afforded by new ways of getting customers to part with their money. Those with a stake in the mobile payment realm are likely going to want to give this one a read.
As I ponder the implications after digesting the whitepaper summary, I feel the familiar left brain-right brain conflict kick in- the one that frequently pops up when analyzing current IT trends. In this case, I truly appreciate the innovative, technically progressive ways in which those wanting to can shop for content or material items without needing to fork over dollar bills, pounds, pesos, or yuan. At the same time, when it comes to spending money, ease isn't always a good thing, especially for those who don't manage their finances well to begin with. I fully realize that the genie is out of the bottle on mobile payment. Now hopefully somebody will come up with a "uh, do you really NEED that thing you're thinking about buying just because it's so easy to buy that that thing" app.

Apa sih RSS Feed ?

A typical T1 circuit is only 1.5 megabits per second. A typical digital 3 minute song is 3 megaBYTES or 24 megabits in size. A typical digital photo is about 2 megaBYTES or 16 megabits. The typical Power Point presentation is 10 megaBYTES in size or 80 megabits. If 3 or more people in the office were to email a power point presentation at the same time the office internet connection would slow to a crawl for 3 or more minutes. This does not take into account all the spam email clogging up your Internet connection while attempting to reach your mail server. Nor does it take into account many other new bandwidth hogging applications that others in office are using such as monitoring their nanny cam at home, watching MarketWatch , CNN streaming video channels, or uploading a photo album to a relative. Everyday there are new bandwidth intensive applications being developed for the Internet.
It's obvious that the common T1 connection can't handle this growth. Your best option is to research application of a DS3 bandwidth solution.
A DS3 (sometimes referred to as a T3 or E3) is a leased private dedicated line that goes directly from your office to an Internet Service Provider (ISP). A T3/DS3 connection is equivalent to 28 T1/DS1 connections and uses digital signals on fiber-optic cable at speeds of 45 million bps (bits per second) or 44.736 megabits per second. Generally this type of dedicated line is for 50-100+ users and/or high bandwidth applications. T3/DS3 connections can also be used for point to point access (direct connection between 2 business sites).
As a standard used in the North American and Japanese marketplaces, a DS3 can handle 672, 64Kbps voice conversations or one video data channel. The DS3 line has enough bandwidth to transmit full-motion real-time videos and very large databases over a busy network. Generally a DS3 line would be installed as a major networking channel for a large corporation, research facility, call center, or university with high volume network traffic. But there are multiple smaller scale business uses also....particularly when multiple locations are involved. Bandwidth for a Fractional DS3, up to a full DS3, generally run at speeds between 6 Mbps through 45 Mbps.
DS3 connection (or T3 connection), is great for companies with large bandwidth needs. It is especially useful as the backbone for Disaster Recovery systems. If your company needs computer access for 50 + users, or needs to run high bandwidth applications like video conferencing, you are likely in the market for a T3/DS3 connection. A T3/DS3 line is also a viable solution for companies looking to resell bandwidth to their customers.
The common T1 line can handle 24 simultaneous voice calls or a high speed Internet connection speed of 1.54 Mbps. This is usually the solution of choice for small to mid size businesses. A DS3 line can handle 672 simultaneous voice calls or provide a high speed Internet connection of 45 Mbps. The T3/DS3 is typically used by high end data and voice customers as it is the equivalent of 28 T1 lines or 672 voice lines.
Most DS3 circuits are "fractional", meaning a portion of the circuit. A DS3 is capable of 45 megabits per second. Fractional DS3s are usually, 8 megabit per second which is equal to about five (5) T1s. Today this is more than fast enough for most all business needs.
The cost of the DS3 circuit is always mileage based. Generally speaking the farther the distance from your ISPs Central Office (CO) connection the more it will cost. On top of that there is often a bandwidth usage charge.
DS3 service can be deployed for a wide variety of applications. The most common uses are DS3 point-to-point (tying 2 distinct business locations together), DS3 internet (data), DS3 frame relay, DS3 voice, and DS3 VPN. The pricing for these connections varies widely depending on the carrier, location of service and the application for which the connection is being used. Using a free rate quote research service such as DS3-Bandwidth.com will allow you to obtain current pricing for your location.

Telecommunication in the future

Posted by Telkompedia team 0 comments

By. Michael Lemm

The current "frenzy" over VoIP seems to focused mostly on BroadBand phones and their predicted replacement of landline phone calls as we know it.

But that's just the obvious action on the surface.

VoIP technology is & can be much more than that. And company R&D is gearing up in unprecedented ways to prepare for that surprising leap in expectation.

Notice I said expectation.

Seems the old business model in Telco was that whatever the companies came up with is what the consumer would take.

The companies drove the market & what was in it...including any technology "advancements" and their application, distribution, etc.

Remember.....we had dial-up internet....then DSL, cable, & satellite access. Now WiFi & soon reliable WiMax deployment.

We had high cpm PSTN / POTS residential phone calls....then we had bundled local/LD.... then flat rate LD. Now Broadband phone (VoIP).

We had bulky analog cell phones then digital/PCS, text messaging, and now sleek video cellular.

But that is old world thinking.

The reason is 2 fold....

First....VoIP technology (note I didn't say VoIP "phone") stands to afford unprecedented advancements and capabilities yet to be seen. The potential is boggling.

Second....the old business model was that whatever companies came up with consumers would accept. The companies drove what was available & came to market.

No more...now consumers are dictating to companies "we want this now come up with it".

That's a drastic change in thinking that companies must now deal with. Those that do will be better positioned to capture what markets are created by consumer demand...vice the old approach of markets being created by what companies developed and released. And the foundation of this new consumer driven demand will likely be based on VoIP (and I believe wireless) technology.

That aside, I'd really like to see what you think of this shift in product development and market control to consumer "vision" vice company "idea" driven....fueled by the possibilities surrounding VoIP and wireless. We've seen....or soon will....a host of Gee Whiz break throughs & possibilities focused heavily on multi-media & data (both residential & business). What do you think the future holds?

Free Talk with Computers Headset

Posted by Telkompedia team 0 comments

By: Dale Martin

One of the best and cheapest ways to talk to people today isn't on a cell phone. A trend in many businesses is to utilize their existing Internet connections and use VoIP services like Cisco and Vonage to make their business calls. Doing so will save them big bucks if they can eliminate there need for a leased line for phone communications. Cell phones are limited in the areas they cover, and they typically cost more to operate than Internet VoIP aplications. To use your computer to make phone calls you will need VoIP software and a computer headset to allow you to talk over the Internet for free, if you buy a service such as Vonage you can make local and long distance calls for free. So, if you decide to go this route here are a few pointers when purchasing you new computer headset. Don't Buy the Cheapest When purchasing a computer headset it is not wise to go for the cheap, ten-dollar version sold by the generic technology companies. These may function well enough to suit you, but after a while you will be disappointed with there quality. Most of the cheaper models are generally fairly uncomfortable and will only give you lackluster performance. Paying a little more for a good quality computer headset will dramatically increase the audio quality of both inbound and outbound voice calls. Headsets have been popular for use with computer games for a few years now, the recent trend in Internet gaming as helped boost the market. Bluetooth computer headsets have also been growing in popularity over the past few years in the business world to help increase mobility and productivity. Computer Headsets for Business Use Computer headsets are providing the necessary interface to the computer to allow business users to make all of their contact calls over the computer and utilizing the Internet to make the call for free. Headsets can also be used in the business world in places like call centers to cut down on the background noise of having so many employees on the phone at the same time in a small area. This allows for more private communication as well. Gone are the days of shelling out huge amounts of money every month for cell phone plans for each employee. By using the computer to make phone calls the only items you need to by is the VoIP software and a reliable headset for the user to wear. This setup will save you money in the long run compared today's expense cell wireless carrier plans. Computer Gaming Headsets If you are into computer games for the Xbox, Playstation and Wii, the latest craze is to play against one another over the Internet. This allows users from all over the world to play against each other in a virtual space, the Internet. However, if you are going to stay competitive in this world of high tech gamers, you will definitely need at computer headset to connect to your Xbox or Playstation. These headsets are typically wireless, using Bluetooth technology. Of course if you are the traditional computer gamer, your computer headset will be plugged into your ultimate gaming PC and you'll be playing something like Counter-Strike or World of Warcraft. If this is the case, you may want to go with a USB interface for your computer headset. This style will be directly wired to your PC and will not require you to replace the batteries. This style tends to be more comfortable and offers a much high audio quality than some of the cheaper wireless models available. It is important to remember there are many different styles of headsets available and each with fit a little differently. If you are using the computer headset strictly for audio then you will need just the ear pieces, basically traditional headphones. But if you plan on using the headset to communicate for gaming of phone service you will need a headset with a mic in order to have two-way communication. Just remember, cheaper is not always better especially in computer headsets. There is a big difference in quality between the low to mid grade as compared to the more pricier higher quality headsets. My advice is to get a mid level priced headset to start out and then if you find yourself using it more and more, you can later upgrade to a higher quality model. (source :ezine3000)

Fiber Optic Technology tutorial

What is a fiber optic continuity tester?

Fiber continuity tester is also called fiber optic continuity checker. It is the simplest visual test of a fiber optic cable link.

To function properly, a fiber optic cable link must be "continuous", meaning no breakage, either within the fiber cable or in the fiber connectors, should exist. The simplest and least expensive way to check is to inject some visual light into one fiber end and check the light coming out from the other end.

To perform this task, two types of fiber testers are available: a fiber optic continuity tester or a laser visual fault locator.

Differences between a fiber continuity tester and a laser visual fault locator

The most important difference is their light source. A fiber continuity tester typically uses a red or green color high intensity LED while a laser visual fault locator uses red color semiconductor laser.

Visible lasers produce a more powerful light and can provide more information to the technician than a LED light. By coupling the fiber link to a visible laser, problems with connectors, breaks in the fiber near connectors or splices, and some bend radius violations can be located.

On the other hand, LED powered fiber continuity tester can only verify that light can travel through the fiber link and no more information is obtained. Fiber continuity tester simply yields a "no go" result. If the light isn't visible at the other end of the fiber link, then the fiber is unusable in its present state and requires further testing and repair.

Applications of a fiber continuity tester

Its best application is testing fiber on a reel before you pull it to make sure it hasn't been damaged during shipment. Look for visible signs of damage (like cracked or broken reels, kinks in the cable, etc.)

The other good application is to check fiber patch cables at patch panels. When connecting fiber cables at patch panels, use the fiber optic continuity tester to make sure each connection is the right two fibers!

And to make certain the proper fibers are connected to the transmitter and receiver, use the continuity tester in place of the transmitter and your eye instead of the receiver.

Understanding the features of a fiber continuity tester

1.Fiber mode compatibility

Some fiber continuity testers only support multimode fibers while the others support both single mode fibers and multimode fibers. So it's best to check the spec sheet from manufacturers to choose the type you need.

2.Fiber connectors supported

Most fiber continuity testers have adapters available for testing 2.5mm ferrule connectors such as ST, SC and FC, 1.25mm ferrule connectors such as LC, MU and special types such as SMA connectors.

3.Fiber distance

Most fiber continuity testers have enough light power to support 2km on multimode fibers.

The fiber optic continuity tester makes it easy to trace fiber optic cable runs.

Compared to laser and incandescent light source testers, this low-cost unit is safer to use and easier for the eye to locate.

This unit has bright red light source which is focused into the fiber optic cable. A multi-use coupler enables connection to ST, SC, FC, RSD and FSD without additional adapters or cables.

What are Fiber Optic Inspection Microscopes?

Fiber optic inspection microscopes are used to inspect the end face of a optical connector or cleaved fiber.

Two types of fiber optic microscopes are popular on the Telecommunications market: fiber optic connector termination inspection and fiber patch panel ferrule inspection.

Magnification levels of fiber scope are available at 200X or 400X for single mode fiber applications, 100X low cost type for multimode applications. The latter is often included in many fiber optic termination tool kits.

What types of flaws or contamination can the microscope see?

With at least 200X magnification you can clearly see scratches, dig, dirt deposit, debris and other contamination on a fiber optic connector.

Desktop video fiber microscope

The typical desktop fiber optic video inspection microscope has a 9" black and white monitor attached to the scope with a 4 feet video cable. So you can place the monitor where it is convenient. Because of its bulk volume, this type of fiber microscope is typically used in production environments and labs. Both 200X and 400X versions are available.

Portable optical fiber scope

This type of microscope with universal adapter is a versatile instrument to inspect fiber optic connectors. They can be used for both multimode and single mode applications. Connectors slide into scope adapter, providing ease of use with or without tripod. 8 degree angle adapter can be used for inspecting angled connectors such as FC/APC, SC/APC, etc. Both 200X and 400X versions are available.

Coaxial Illuminated handheld fiber inspection scope

These low cost microscopes are available in 200x or 400x magnification, and utilize white LED light to provide coaxial illumination to connector end-faces. This method of illumination produces high resolution detail of end face scratches, defects and contamination. It is provided with a universal 2.5mm adapter, with other common connector styles available. These are the natural choice for fiber installation contractors.

Ferrule inspection microscopes

All aforementioned four types of microscopes are for standalone fiber connector inspection. But what about the connectors already installed on patch panels and hardware devices? The ferrule inspection microscopes are the solution.

These video fiber optic microscopes include a handheld LCD display unit and a small, lightweight probe that contains a long-life LED light source and CCD video camera. The probe adapter tip mates with the connector and projects a crisp, clear image of microscopic debris and end-face damage on the LCD display.

Zoom levels of different optical fiber optic microscopes

* 100X
* 150X
* 200X
* 400X

Warnings

* Do not look into a fiber while the system laser is on

* Do not connect a fiberscope while the system laser is on

* Do not touch the end face of the fiber connector

* Lasers Technology used in telecommunication systems are powerful enough to burn contaminants into the fiber end face. Always ensure the laser is turned off while performing the cleaning procedure.

Other special features of popular handheld fiber micrscopes

1. 100X magnification for viewing multimode connectors
2. Includes 2.5 mm connector "Universal Adapter" for FC, ST and SC style connectors
3. Oblique illumination provides good view of ferrule cleanliness and core condition
4. White LED illumination delivers long working life

It's tough getting noticed on the Web. A Web page can provide useful information about a popular subject in an interactive and engrossing way, yet still attract few visitors. One of the most reliable ways to improve traffic is to achieve a high ranking on search engine return pages (SERPs).
Imagine that you've created the definitive Web site on a subject -- we'll use skydiving as an example. Your site is so new that it's not even listed on any SERPs yet, so your first step is to submit your site to search engines like Google and Yahoo. The Web pages on your skydiving site include useful information, exciting photographs and helpful links guiding visitors to other resources. Even with the best information about skydiving on the Web, your site may not crack the top page of results on major search engines. When people search for the term "skydiving," they could end up going to inferior Web sites because yours isn't in the top results.
While most search engine companies try to keep their processes a secret, their criteria for high spots on SERPs isn't a complete mystery. Search engines are successful only if they provide a user links to the best Web sites related to the user's search terms. If your site is the best skydiving resource on the Web, it benefits search engines to list the site high up on their SERPs. You just have to find a way to show search engines that your site belongs at the top of the heap. That's where search engine optimization (SEO) comes in -- it's a collection of techniques a webmaster can use to improve his or her site's SERP position.
In this article, we'll look at two SEO philosophies: the white hat approach and the black hat approach. We'll also learn about some of the problems webmasters can encounter when trying to satisfy both the visitors to the site and search engines.
We'll take a general overview of what SEO really means on the next page.
